Every year, the color lineup is one of the first things people search for once iPhone leak season kicks off — and this year is no different. A new supply-chain leak ( iPhone 18 Pro Colors )points to four colorways for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, with one standout: Dark Cherry.
The rumored lineup
- Dark Cherry — a deep, muted red expected to replace last year’s Cosmic Orange as the lineup’s signature color

Apple has leaned into one bold, attention-grabbing color per Pro generation for the last few years — Cosmic Orange, Desert Titanium, and now, reportedly, Dark Cherry. If the leak holds, it continues that pattern rather than breaking from it.
Why this matters more than it sounds
Color leaks aren’t just cosmetic gossip — they’re one of the more reliable leak categories because they come directly from case makers and screen-protector manufacturers who need exact device molds months before launch. That supply-chain origin is part of why this report is considered credible.
How this compares to last year
The iPhone 17 Pro‘s headline color was Cosmic Orange, a bright, saturated shade that stood out sharply against the more muted Silver and Deep Blue options. Dark Cherry, by contrast, sounds like a return to a deeper, more subdued “statement” color — closer in spirit to the Deep Blue Titanium from the iPhone 15 Pro generation than to last year’s orange.

Should this affect your buying decision?
Not on its own. But if you’re planning to preorder the moment the store opens on September 9, color availability is historically the first thing to sell out — especially a new signature color. Popular finishes have sold out within the first hour of preorders in past years.
What we still don’t know
Apple hasn’t confirmed any of this. Official color names and finishes (matte vs. glossy back glass) typically aren’t locked in until the keynote itself, so treat these as strong leaks rather than certainties until September 9.
